Missionary, Mormon Church; Tenney participated with the southern Utah militia against the Navajos, worked with Jacob Hamblin as missionary to the Hopi in 1858, and other mission assignments in northern New Mexico and Arizona. In 1882, he was jailed for practicing polygamy. He later served in 1887 on the Papago Indian Reservation in southern Arizona. From the description of Tenney papers, 1884-1923.
